What's Easter Really About?

Easter is not about eating chocolate, 

But we eat Easter eggs to remind ourselves about new life, 

Easter was celebrated by non-Christians, 

Easter eggs represent a new life of a small chicken. 

Easter is about the new life when Christ resurrected on the cross, 

And a new life that we have in Christ, 

Some Easter eggs have three colours that represents the trinity, 

It's a perfect way to let the kids give away the chocolate and preach about God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 

When the Time is Right

I've always wanted an extension of myself, 

A better version of me before my eyes, 

Someone to look way beyond herself, 

Someone who will always seek to be wise. 

Someone to carry the Shozi legacy, 

Someone who will outlive her parents, 

Someone who will discover her destiny, 

Someone who will face each day with perseverance. 

You need to do much better than your folks, 

If one was a doctor, a pilot or a lawyer be more, 

A musician, an author or sharing few jokes, 

Whatever you find an open door.

Let us go to a war room, 

And submit our weaknesses, 

Let that place be our classroom,

Let us learn to fight the right way, 

It has driven some to insanity,

This hashtag is now used by all,  

Especially as a wake up call, 

It all started when students protested, 

"No increase in fees", they requested, 

That's how this trend started, #FeesMustFall. 

Students were once promised free education, 

This just sounds like a political motivation,  

Again schools were burnt, as well as tires on the road and cars, 

What a waste of resources it brought back 1976 scars. 

Workers and students are hardly satisfied, 

This won't stop unless the elephant in the room is identified, 

Compared to great countries, wages in South Africa are crazy, 

People work hard, yet paid like they are lazy. 

South Africa is the first country I know with striking doctors, 

They are paid like Safeway workers overseas, also less paid lawyers, 

Nothing is wrong if we can't afford but something is not right, 

Most people are too scared to put the truth in limelight. 

The way history is repeating itself is so strange, 

How many years will it be until we see real change?

We need more people to rise and stand so tall, 

And say, rain must fall, crime must fall, poverty must fall,

Give

The world is not all about what you can get but what you can give. 

Sometimes the best way of moving forward is to STOP! Take a break, do something meaningful with your life.

You can replace your colleagues, money and friends but you can't replace your family.

Go to your son's soccer match! Go to your daughter's school meeting! Go to your mum's event! Go to your sister's graduation ceremony! 

Visit sick people! Help a stranger! Love your neighbour! Do good deeds! Have Ubuntu! Have tea and biscuits with your family members at your house! 

Forgive those who hate you for your success! Bless them anyway! Encourage your friends! 

Enjoy every moment because they won't be with you forever. 

Vulnerability

You might not be where you want to be because you are too scared to fail. 

You think that people are going to laugh at you and call you a loser. 

That mindset is hindering the innovation you could be coming up with.

It's stoping you from writing a song, a poem, a book, painting or even starting your own business. 

You have to be vulnerable enough to create something bigger than yourself. 

If you change your mind, you can change your life. 

Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.

The Power of a Song

As we went to church this morning, 

I started my journey with a humming,  

My wife was doing an assignment, 

Masters in Human Rights needs every moment. 

 

Great worship reminiscing on sonship, 

Great service, enjoying our friendship,  

Learning more about loving well, 

Living well and having more stories to tell. 

As we drove home Nala started crying, 

With great passion I started singing, 

By the time we arrived home she was asleep, 

She loves my songs, they put her to sleep.

We're Living in a Day and Time

Where people will do anything for money and fame. 

Where people do crazy things for attention, 

Where people change their identity to be accepted, 

Where people worship anything or any name, 

There is only one name they won't mention, 

Jesus is knocking and He needs your acceptance. 

When The Taps Run Dry

Waiting for that drop of liquid to be dripping, 

Hoping for a rowdy sound on my roof instead of sleeping, 

Empty shed, empty fields, empty stomachs nothing to save, 

Nothing to look forward to in the morning, Lord help us to be brave. 

Time is running, cows are dying businesses are ending tell me why? 

Hope is fading, people are panicking, poverty is rising and the crime is shooting high, 

Everything is changing, people are leaving and the cattle continue to die. 

Too much trouble for too less liquid we have youngsters to be equipping,

Attacked by the drought no water for anyone to be sipping, 

Prolonged hours of awareness, farmers in trouble started this creative writing, 

Somebody has to encourage people to behave. 

Rain must fall, people must save what the Lord first gave, 

Understanding the situation at hand might stop you to misbehave. 

Nile river filled up by every drop of rain, now dams are low, this is a new wave. 

Donate water to those who need it the most, go to the shops and buy, 

Renew, refresh, restore and reshape generosity, let's here their cry,   

You have a difference to make when the taps run dry.
